Education
Robert was born and brought up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Following
secondary education at Campbell College, he gained a BA Hons degree with
first class honours in Film Studies, and an MA in Film and Visual Studies
from Queen's University Belfast. He is currently completing a PhD at Trinity
College Dublin.
Robert has worked extensively in the arts, education, and archival
environments.
Work
As an artist he favours ancient Irish landscapes and megaliths as
subject material. A keen photographer, Robert works with 35mm and digital
cameras and is developing a number of themed projects. He is an
internationally recognised authority on Hammer Films and is currently
writing and editing several books on British cinema, and is the
Editor-in-Chief of the international magazine Horror Unlimited.
He is
regularly engaged in his capacity as a film historian, archivist and critic
on a consultation basis, and has been an advisor on brand identity and
archival concerns. He has contributed to various documentaries, DVD sleeve
notes, television and radio broadcasts.
Robert has worked extensively in adult education and open learning
programmes, notably with Queen's University Belfast. He is regularly called
upon to give talks and introduce film screenings around the UK and Ireland.
