www.hammerfilms.com
Website editorial, maintenance and development. 2006-?
Hammer Film Productions Ltd, were
the most successful independent British film company of all
time, establishing a reputation for their stylish colour Gothic
horror pictures in the 1950s and 1960s. Hammer are currently in
the midst of a re-branding exercise and have launched a slate of
popular dvds alongside a wealth of new merchandise.
I've been responsible for the
Unofficial Hammer Films Site since early 1999. In February
2006 we were approached with regards to taking on editorial and
development duties on Hammer's Official website (which had been
untouched since 2002/3).
In March 2006 Avalard Productions/Robert Simpson was appointed
with the responsibility of updating the code on the site, and to
begin work on building a new HammerWeb. The work will include
design/maintenance, control of mailing lists, building of an
online profile, and editorial duties.
I am continuing my work on the Unofficial website alongside
stints on hammerfilms.com. The content of the two websites is
substantially different in tone, and my critical appraisal of
"classic" Hammer will be worked into The Unofficial Site and my
forthcoming book, allowing a more corporate based approach for
HammerWeb. |

Selected Past Clients
Burtonswho.com
Website design & maintenance, Graphic design. 2000-2005
Burtons Books was a successful and
popular mail-order business (based in St-Leonards-On-Sea, near
Hastings) specialising in Doctor Who merchandise. In the middle
of 2000 I put forward the suggestion for an online element to
their catalogue and was given the contract to devlop the
e-retail side of the business. During the next five
years we were responsible for building up an online presence for
Burtons, maintaining their catalogue online, designing and
maintaining the site including specialist graphics.
We had hoped to develop secure server purchasing for Burtons.
The contract ended in December 2005 after the owners retired and
the purchaser decided to take all work in house, and moved the
business elsewhere. If
you are looking to purchase from the new Burtons (which we have
no connection with), click

Queen's University
Cinematheque
Graphic Design. Website design and content 2002-3
One of several commissions by the
Queen's University of Belfast, I was responsible (along with
several others) for the programming of several seasons of
special themed screenings for students at the university. To
accompany the screenings I provided information sheets detailing
background information and commentary on the films being
screened, which appeared on the accompanying Cinematheque
website, along with further information about the series.
Avalard Productions was responsible for a number of graphics,
website design, maintenance, and a discussion forum which we
also moderated.
The contract was ended owing to lack of funds from the
department concerned, and a perceived lack of interest from the
student body. |
